We made it! It's our last day of Spanish together!
If you did not finish yesterday's assignment, you have today to do so. Other than that, there is no assignment for today. What I do want you to do, though, is go through and see if you have all of your assignments turned in. If you don't, feel free to do any that are missing. Enjoy your summer, my prayers are with you!

Only...in lieu of a Mass, there will be something different to commemorate this joyous occasion, regardless of the situation at hand. You all deserve it! Today's assignment is just for the seventh grade, where we will continue watching the second part of the video from Tuesday. Remember, it's the first episode of a six episode series from PBS. Here is the link to the video, again: http://www.pbs.org/latino-americans/en/watch-videos/#2365075996 Your link to today's assignment, which you can answer either in English or Spanish: https://www.classroomclipboard.com/825085/Test/7E9C22CB-4235-4F0D-B134-9D206ED8901C Access code: AFYG3BA Today we are going to begin/end with a documentary about Latinos in the United States. We will be dividing the work among the grades. Eighth graders saw the first episode last year, and will be watching the second episode this week. Seventh graders will see the first episode this week.
¡Feliz martes!
All this wee you will be working on your writing assignment, which will be due this Friday, 5/22. Last week Friday I asked you to start thinking about someone who immigrated here. Your writing assignment will be about how that person came to the United States. How do I do it? All the writing will be in Spanish. You can type it up on a document, or be creative with a PowerPoint (I would shoot for this). Maps should be included of the person's origin, the voyage, and the location. No picture of the person is necessary, but if you want to include one, go ahead! Only I will see your final product. I will give you questions to base your writing about, posted below. Your answers are sufficient enough to include in your assignment. If you want to add more detail, by all means go ahead! The more, the merrier! These are the questions I want you to address: --¿Cómo se llama la persona? (This questions should be the most lengthy response since I want you to tell me the story of how the person arrived, either by plane, by boat, by foot, and any and all trouble this person may have encountered.) Remember, you have the entire week to work on this assignment. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. ¡Ya es viernes! ¡Wooooo! Once you are finished, begin thinking about our writing assignment that we are going to work on all next week. You are going to write the story of when someone you know came to the United States. It doesn't matter if it's a neighbor, a family member, a friend of the family, etc. Talk to that person to see how it was when they came. How long ago was it? How did they come? Did they come alone, with a friend, with family? Where there any hardships? All these questions are valid to ask, and anything else that person wants to share, right it down as well! Think about yesterday's reading and the video from Univisión that we watched, plus any background knowledge that you may have. ¡Feliz martes!
Images from the reading are provided as screen shots to the questions for you to answer on the link provided. The reading is in Spanish, but most of it you are able to understand, there are maps and graphs included, as well. Here is the link to the questions: https://www.classroomclipboard.com/825085/Test/FE52CF20-E25A-4182-A394-CBCD62780049 Access code: PAHPM Next week we will be working on a writing project to finish this unit on La inmigración indocumentada. Keep that in the back of your heads, I will give more detail about it on Friday.
You will have a word bank to help you answer the questions. Click on the link to go to the questions once you have seen the video: https://www.classroomclipboard.com/825085/Test/1DFDF6AC-7BE8-413B-A3AC-498BE3C47FDF Access code: EPPDCX6 Remember, you have two days to work on the assignment, just like during the school year. That way, if you won't be able to work on it today because of Packet Pick-up, no worries! |
