Today we commemorate an important event in Mexican history: Mexico beating France in a battle! The only odd thing about today is that it's celebrated more in the United States than in Mexico. It's only celebrated in the city of Puebla where the battle that happened today so many years ago was fought.
We have a small reading assignment on Garbanzo that talks about what happened on Cinco de Mayo all those years ago. And for your enjoyment, foto del día...

Today's worksheet is an interactive one! We are still taking about our feelings and emotions, only this time we have a listening practice.
Click on the link to go to the worksheet: https://www.liveworksheets.com/c?a=s&g=Third&s=Spanish&t=8difpa5oqy&l=eb&i=dstdz&r=db&m=d For your assignment, there are eight images in the middle, and eight audio speakers that you click on. Each speaker will say a sentence in Spanish. You will then have to choose the correct picture and drag it over the speaker. Once you are finished, click on the Finish button, type your name and and click Send, it will automatically send it to me. We continue talking about our emotions using a crossword! Take a look at the image. Match the emotion to the picture using the number under each facial expression. In the crossword itself there are certain letters that are circles. Using those letters, fill in the mystery phrase on top. Each circle is numbered. Take a picture, make sure your name it on it, and email it not me. If you don't have a picture, put the words in order by number and write what the mystery phrase is.
Today in the communities of Cataluña and Aragón in Spain, and in other places in Europe, is an important day; it's the day of Sant Jordi (in Catalán), or in English, St. George! Sant Jordi is the patron saint of Cataluña and Aragón, two communities in Spain. Instead of states, like here in the USA, Spain has communities. Especially in the city of Barcelona, located in Cataluña, people go to the streets to buy...books! All the bookstores go outside and put their booths on one of the main streets of Barcelona, Las Ramblas. Think of it like State St. or Michigan Ave. People go to Las Ramblas and buy books upon books today. It's also their version of Valentine's Day. So today, people in Barcelona exchange books and red roses. But why roses? Why books? Watch the video to learn about the legend of Sant Jordi. Today what I want you to do is create a cover for a book about Sant Jordi! Create a title for a book, include key figures like Sant Jordi, a princess, a dragon, roses, a book, or anything you think is important for a cover! Make sure your name is on it in a corner and email me a picture of your cover once you've finished. Enjoy! Welcome back! We move from food to feelings and emotions for the remainder of the school year. Today we will begin talking about basic emotions and feelings. For today, print the attached worksheet about the emotions and feelings. Draw a face to illustrate each feeling or emotion. If you don't have a printer, you can draw it on a sheet of paper. Once you've finished, send me a picture to my email with your work. Make sure your name is on the paper so I know whose it is. cansado--tired triste--sad asqueado--grossed out dormido--sleeping asustado--scared enfadado--fed up sorprendido--surprised aburrido--bored

Holy Week, one of the most important weeks of the year, and also one of the most faith-filling. Today we have an assignment posted on Garbanzo about Holy Week. Take today and tomorrow to work on it.
Today we're going to practice some phrases on how to order food in a restaurant, something we already may have done, but only in Spanish this time. Remember how I said we were going to have a speaking test on ordering food? This is not it, but we're going to start practicing for it.
You are going to do an activity, it says test but it's not a test, where there are questions with multiple choice options. Go to this website: https://www.classroomclipboard.com/825085/Test/6F79E089-2917-46E3-94EE-DEA728AFCCA7 It will ask you for an access code, this is it: 9644 Make sure you type your name so I know who is doing the assignment. It's not a test, just practice. No need to e-mail me once you've finished, I'll receive one when you do automatically. If you're stuck, you can use the website from Monday; some of the questions are from there. |
